Crowns are restorations that cover the entire tooth. They are most often made of tooth colored porcelain which is extremely durable and very natural in appearance. Crowns protect and strengthen teeth that have been compromised by large fillings, fractures, and wear. They can also be used cosmetically to alter the shape, size, and appearance of teeth.
Composite fillings are fillings that are tooth colored and blend nicely with natural teeth. They are used to restore teeth that have been broken down from decay, fractures, and wear. Composite fillings are much more conservative than conventional silver fillings and are also bonded to the surrounding tooth.
Veneers are very thin tooth shaped pieces of porcelain. They are bonded to the fronts of teeth to improve appearance and alignment. Veneers can completely reshape your teeth and smile while conserving natural tooth structure.
Dentures are removable appliances used to replace missing teeth. A complete denture is necessary when all of the teeth are missing. A partial denture is used when some of the natural teeth remain. Dentures are a good solution for patients who are missing several teeth.
Tooth whitening is a treatment used to lighten the color of your natural teeth. It is a safe and effective way to brighten and enhance your smile.
Bridges are restorations used to replace missing teeth. Bridges are often made of tooth colored porcelain which is extremely durable and very natural in appearance. Bridges consist of two or more crowns connected by one or more artificial teeth which fill the gaps left by missing teeth.
Dental implants are restorations used to replace missing teeth. They differ from bridges in that the adjacent teeth do not need to be altered or compromised. A dental implant consists of an artificial root which is surgically placed into the jaw bone. A crown is then attached to the implant. Dental implants are very natural in both function and appearance.
Root canal therapy is necessary when the nerve and blood vessels in a tooth are affected and begin to die. During root canal therapy, the affected nerves and vessels are removed and the inside of the tooth is cleaned and sealed. This process saves a tooth that would otherwise need to be removed.
Bonding is often performed in order to fill in gaps or change the color of your teeth. It typically only entails one office visit, and the results last for several years. Bonding is more susceptible to staining or chipping than other forms of restoration such as veneers.
